Requirements for the web.tv conference

Web.tv are required for video calls :

  • You must have a Web.tv account to use the conference without a time limit.
  • A supported browser
  • A compatible device with minimum system requirements
  • A supported operating system.
  • Broadband Internet connection
  • A built-in webcam or an external USB camera.
  1. Using a supported operating system

    Web.tv supports the current versions of the operating systems listed below.

    • Apple macOS
    • Microsoft Windows

      • Windows 7 and Windows Vista use their own drivers to run sound cards. Therefore the "Stereo Mix" is not displayed even if the option "Show deactivated devices" is activated. You must download and install the current sound card driver. Go to the Control Panel / Sound / Recording tab and right click / select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices". Find the stereo mix, right click, activate and select ’Default’ from the button below.
    • Ubuntu and other Debian-based Linux distributions

  2. Using a supported web browser.

    • Desktop / Laptop: Chrome, Firefox or Edge (latest versions)

    Since screen sharing is not supported on mobile devices, it is necessary to use a desktop/ laptop for conferences that require screen sharing.

  3. Allow web.tv to use your camera and microphone.

    Before you can use web.tv, you must allow access to your computer's camera and microphone.

    Allow access the first time you use web.tv.

    1. Go to the web.tv homepage in a web browser.
    2. Click to Login and log in by entering your details.
    3. On the main page, select your channel and click to ‘Start Conference’
    4. Or

    5. Go to the web.tv homepage in a web browser.
    6. Click ‘Go to profile.’
    7. Click on the Channels tab.
    8. Choose your channel.
    9. In the upper right, click ‘Start Video Conference.’

    Change the setting to allow access.

    If you're not prompted to allow access, or if you've previously blocked access, you can change your settings.

    1. In a web browser, go to the home page of web.tv

    2. Click login, enter your details and log in.

    3. Select your channel on the home page and click start conference.

    4. In the upper right, click the Locked camera icon.

    5. Click Always allow web.tv to access my camera and microphone.

    6. Click Finish. Click the camera icon at the bottom of the conference area. If it is not loaded, end the conference and rejoin.

  4. Hardware Recommendations

    • 4GB minimum memory and 2+ Ghz CPU for desktop or laptop
    • Minimum 1 mbits / sec download, 2 mbits / sec upload
    • Headphones are recommended for a high quality conference.
  5. Fix problems with web.tv.

    If you are having performance issues with web.tv, try the following steps

    • Make sure that only one web.tv tab is open at a time. Close any open browser tabs, windows, or apps that are not currently in use.
    • Place your device on a flat and raised surface to prevent the device from overheating. Do not use your device on the floor or bed for long periods of time.
    • Choose a lower resolution for your device's video quality.
